The crown wheel is a core transmission component in the automotive drive axle (rear axle). Essentially, it is a pair of intermeshing bevel gears – the “crown wheel” (crown-shaped driven gear) and the “angle wheel” (bevel driving gear), specifically designed for commercial vehicles, off-road vehicles, and other models that require strong power.
The core role is twofold:
1. 90° steering: converting the horizontal power of the drive shaft into the vertical power required by the wheels;
2. Reduce speed and increase torque: Reduce the rotational speed and amplify the torque, enabling the vehicle to start, climb slopes, and pull heavy loads.
